Attention: Citizens of Funkstown
|
|||
The
town is about to be occupied by Civil War soldiers from both the
North and the South just as it was 147 years ago around the days of
July 16th, 17th & 18th. There will be many
activities throughout the weekend (see reverse side for details).
The Activity that we would like to talk to you about at this time is
the foraging. The men will be foraging throughout the town from
8:00am until 9:30am. They are looking for anything that they can
throw in their sacks to eat later, including canned goods, wrapped
items like breads and cookies, or just fruits and vegetables. Any
excess food not used by the solders will be donated to the St. Pauls
Food Bank. If you would like to participate, and have the men to
stop by your house, please call the Town Hall at 301-791-0948 and
give them your address by Friday July 9th at 4:00pm. A list will be
given to the men in the field for Saturday morning. With such little
time to forage they
need
to make every stop count. This is a great opportunity to greet the
men coming into our town and get your first look at what you will
see in the encampments. Whether you donate to the foraging or not,
we hope that you will enjoy one of the battles or any of the
activities scheduled for this weekend |
