Welcome to the website of the Funkstown Volunteer
Fire Company. I personally invite you to browse our website
and return often as we continue to build and update the site.
The
Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company is staffed by a group of
dedicated and well-trained volunteers focused on providing
emergency fire and rescue services to the citizens and
visitors of Funkstown and Washington County, Maryland. We
provide primary fire suppression/prevention and emergency
rescue services to Funkstown and a 19 square mile area of
Washington County. In addition to our first-due area we
provide mutual-aid support to Hagerstown, Mt. Aetna, Halfway, Fairplay,
Williamsport, Boonsboro, Smithsburg, Long Meadow and other
departments of Washington County. Our first-due area
comprises a mix of traditional and dense residential housing,
commercial business, light industrial, and sections of
Interstate 70.
As the new Fire Chief I am ready
to take over where my predecessors left off; to continue
the excellence of the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company. I am
pleased to be service my first term as Fire Chief, working
with a group of professional and well trained officers.
Together we will continue to take on new ideas and finish
those in progress to make the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company
one of the best in area. Recruitment & retention,
training, along with company pride will be some of our biggest
goals in 2008.
